Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur
by Christoph | 18.September 2008
I went to Malaysia in February of 2008. It was a very stressful flight because I was in Brazil just before that, so I went from Sao Paulo to Frankfurt and to Dubai – Kuala Lumpur (to pick up Stefan). I was totalled afterwards.
The day in the water park “Sunway Lagoon” of Kuala Lumpur was nevertheless nice and relaxing. The bridge by the way is very long and leads to a gigantic swimming pool.
Besides that there is not really a lot to tell about Kuala Lumpur. The Petronas Towers are of course very famous, but if one is standing on the bridge, that is connecting them, one is not very impressed. I was expecting more.
The city is very clean and a little bit boring. Most of its nightlife seems to happen exclusively in Hotels.
Nightlife: The Sky Bar
The Sky Bar on the roof of the Traders Hotel near Shangri La for example is very popular. A swimming pool surrounded by comfortable sofas, good DJ’s and all the so-called ‘expats’ that made themselves at home in Malaysia and who make sure that everyone is in good spirits, it is very easy to make friends here.
The Traders Hotel itself is very recommendable, very clean, all rooms are new (visibly better than the normal Shangri La) and the service knows how to deal with special wishes. One night in the 4 star hotel starts from EUR 74.00 per night.
By the way, there is a little trick how you can save another EUR 17.50 per night off your hotel bill! Do make your booking via my company page bonusbote.com!
Important in that case: you’ll get the commission per booking, that means, you have to book every night separately and delete the cookies afterwards to assure that you’ll really save EUR 17.50.
Outside of Kuala Lumpur - wilderness
The second day: Stefan and I are going to see the world’s biggest hotel, which lies on top of a lonely mountain in the middle of the deepest jungle. On the way there we are drove several serpentines, which was almost too much for the gas taxi and our stomachs
But at least we found a Hindu temple deep inside a cave, just outside of Kuala Lumpur. Many some steps lead into the mountain and then we stood in a gigantic cave. Stefan gets attacked by a rather pissed of monkey, he probably shouldn’t have tried to pull on his tail…
The hotel in question turned out to be an enormous shopping mall with enclosed casino. The cable car journey onto the mountain in the darkness in itself was worth the journey. It was a weird feeling to sail above the jungle in complete silence, with the world underneath us only lit up by a couple of lights, I felt like somebody from out of space.
PS: I would be interested in your opinion. Did you like this article and what could I do to improve it? Did you find it helpful? Did you learn something interesting or useful? Did you find it funny? Common and knock me out…
